According to the stories, Haridas was a great devotee of Lord Krishna, once his disciples insisted on seeing Lord Krishna and Radha Ji, which Haridas could not refuse and started doing bhajan kirtan for the darshan of Lord Krishna and Radha Ji, pleased with which Lord Krishna and Radha Rani appeared before them and Haridas’s disciples expressed their desire to stay there and Lord Krishna and Radha Ji agreed to stay there in the same form, but Haridas ji said that I am a saint, I will keep you somehow but from where will I bring new ornaments and clothes for Radha Ji every day.
Lord Krishna started smiling and to solve this problem, Radha and Krishna became one and appeared in an idol which was called Bankebihari, that is why it is said that Krishna is Radhe and Radhe is Krishna.
