Mythology Story of Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga

According to Hindu mythology, Bhima was the son of Ravana’s brother Kumbhakarna and Bhima was born after the death of Kumbhakarna. When Bhima grew up, he became curious to know about his father’s death and asked his mother the reason for the death of his father Kumbhakarna. When Bhima came to know that his father was killed by Lord Rama, Bhima became eager to take revenge and killing Lord Rama was Bhima’s only goal.

So Bhima started a rigorous penance of Brahma Ji and Brahma Ji, pleased with Bhima’s rigorous penance, gave him the boon of being victorious and after that Bhima became autocratic and started harassing everyone from humans to gods and started creating havoc everywhere.

And to solve this problem all the Gods went to Lord Shiva and requested him to kill Bhima and after that a fierce battle took place between Lord Shiva and the demon Bhima and this battle went on for many days and finally Lord Shiva killed the demon Bhima and then the Gods requested Lord Shiva to establish himself in the form of Shivalinga and Lord Shiva established himself in the form of Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga.
